Finally, after months of heat and humidity, there comes a morning when you open the door to let the dog outside and there is a wonderfully pleasant coolness to the air. You pause at the doorway to take it in for a moment. I love that moment. It signals the end of the hot days of summer and beckons pots of soup and fragrant candles and holidays to come. Because it is Texas, football is already underway having started before the change of seasons but the first game with a nip in the air is as if the season has begun anew.
I have traveled with dear friends in the fall more than other time. Our trip a few years back to Scottsdale and Sedona was my first venture to the southwest and it stays with me. I have a fasination with new places and collect the experiences and time spent with friends like a bracelet of dangling, unrelated charms that together make up a beautiful adornment for my life. My relationships with friends and family are always deeper when we travel together out of our daily routines and into just being ourselves.
This fall I have smaller adventures closer to home but look forward to weddings in Tennesee in Novemeber and at Marlsgate Plantation in December. Although I've been there before, I've not seen all that Nashville has to offer and I've never been to Marlsgate so weddings in these places will be a special blessing for a bounty of reasons.
Did I mention that I love weddings? That's a post for another cool day...
